If I used those during open water, the beavers would absolutely love snacking on them. I can't use anything green...everything needs to be dead and dry.
What I know about muskrat trapping wouldn’t fill a thimble, much to learn. I’ve caught 7 in a relatively small area. I normally stay too long in one area so I’m trying to figure out when to move on. Today I started moving outward, even added four more sets.
I have been using nothing but gum poles for many years, try to cut them about three or four weeks before I start trapping a marsh. I like the flexibility of gum in case we get big tides and there’s a lot of grass floating around getting hung up on the poles. I have found that muskrats love chewing on them, especially late season.
