Pipe insulation under the pan , big leaves folded in half under the pan has worked for me also

Well maybe the shingles are a pan cover.

That stuff is made less than a half mile from my location.

Maybe I should raid their dumpster and sell what I find on here....lol

I use poly fill, I prefer to buy it in quilting form, it’s about 1/2 inch thick, 3 feet wide, I can buy a yard for a couple bucks and cut it into 2 inch squares. That fits 1-1/2,550’s,650’s or number 3’s. I have even thrown that size under MB750”s to catch cougars. A yard makes a lot of little squares for cheap. If you look close you can see one that didn’t get torn up in the right side of this catch circle.

I have used pan cvers made from screening, but I nightlatch my traps so now use nothing, the pan only needs to drop a fraction and it is hooked up yo the animal. It saves time and extra work.

Spelling is important.

Poly fill and peat/dirt mix.
