Hello, I’m just getting into trapping and I realize I have a lot of questions. Seems like the more I learn the more questions I have. A couple of the first ones:

I bought a single hand fleshing tool along with a two handed fleshing knife. The one handed tool isn’t very sharp. How sharp does it need to be? I’ve tried getting a better edge with a stone but o can’t seem to get it sharp. Any suggestions?

Can lures and urine leftover from this season be saved to use next year?

Thanks!

This and there is only a few critters you need the sharp edge of a fleshing knife for.

Most of those you can use the dull side. Beaver, Otter and coon you will need a sharp side. Coon is only on the back of the neck usually.
