Those that followed my earlier thread know I missed the last cat which would have made a total of six off of 27 beaver carcasses. Well, I couldn't get out on the river just yet as rivers were forecasted to rise substantially...so I gave those carcasses one last glance yesterday. The "miss" carcass was still getting fed on and covered so I set it up again. And two more carcasses (near each other about 1/4 mile) had hits. Also there was some civet activity on at least one more carcass. So today's final check: Here is the missed cat on that carcass. A little bit casty belly-wise but an adult tom. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-698-246499-3e6a7fac_622a_4864_901e_f8c174804b81.jpeg) And then one more civet (female) for a total of five from the carcasses:

I'm going to assume a cat is worth more than 2-3 beaver. Could you move your carcass pile and access untrapped country? Doe Oregon limit a trappers cat catch? If I remember right you're trapping west of the cascades so no limit? Not a pile of carcasses, each carcass is placed separate from the rest. By now cougars, gray fox, birds, etc have taken all the carcasses. I don't think there is one whole unmolested carcass from the 27. If I was desperate I could move around partially eaten carcasses but the beauty of the method is to have 4-5 days worth of eatin' for my customers so that I don't have to be out there looking at the them every couple days. I'll have enough carcasses for another good run before February is through. Our cat season ends Feb 28th. I was pleased with the result of this run. I averaged about 1 cat per 4 carcasses which is outstanding for me. Usually I'm at around 6-7 beaver per cat.

That's a pretty little civet, I wish we had them here. What size coni is that BP? 120. That civet probably will weigh in at 1 lb.

Wow, some of those are smaller than I thought. I'm used to our striped skunks which are quite a bit larger. Cool little critters

The carcasses are on public or private land? If public, hidden enough there won't be whiners and cryers? Mainly public land. The only cryers/whiners I've had were hound hunters. I used to set things up with body grippers, but have gone to footholds and I'm good with those guys now. I've never caught a hound either way. Beauty of the method also is very limited time exposure for my traps. Make a catch and I pull. Most often within 18 hours of having set it.

It measures 13" on a mink board: Thanks for posting this BP, I really appreciate put up fur. I was thinking when you posted that it weighed about a pound that I weighed two mink that were 4 lbs this year. And here you show it on a female mink board Just like striped skunk you can really see their markings on the hide. Beautiful
