Don’t have a lot of experience with them, so I figured would ask you guys. How big is a big otter? We are allowed one and have caught a few over the last few years. They were all on the smaller size. But I got one today that is much bigger. It’s just a fuzz short of 48” from nose to tail, that was just stretched out on the tail gate. He was just a little over 25 pounds. Just wondering how big he really is or if he is just normal size. He came out of a smaller creek. Thank ya.

That's about as large as they usually get, big male im guessing. Female's usually smaller.

Yep, agree with above, that's a nice one. My biggest is 49" and 26 pounds, Most here are in the 40-44 inch range and around 18-20 pounds.

Great catch. What kind of set?

That’s a darn nice otter. I got two this winter that were almost exactly that size. Haven’t gotten any bigger than that, but I’m going to keep trying.

That's a good one, my biggest this year was just over that (so far, fingers crossed). I catch a lot that are smaller, 18-20 pounders, around 36-42"
