"Female gold prospectors pulling a sled loaded with provisions through the muddy streets of Skagway, Alaska in 1898. Canadian authorities required every stampeder (gold prospector) to have a year's worth of gold mining equipment and supplies before they would be allowed to cross the Canadian border from Alaska into the Yukon such as: food, warm clothes and outerwear, moccasins and boots, blankets and towels. Each person had to prove they had a year's provision of food."

Cool photo and story but she sure doesn't look like she pulled that sled very far.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Makes you wonder if that was a staged photo. Looks like a very heavy load, I'd be covered in mud from slipping and falling trying to drag it in the mud, she looks mighty clean and that thin rope or chain would hurt too

Scandal! I smell a new scandal! How can we make this about Tariffs now?

Looks like all she packed was clothes. Maybe that's to be expected.

Maybe she was a new kinda "gold digger". They always said there was more money supplying the miners than mining itself.

She wouldn't make it across the first minor ditch, with that sled. The picture isn't an accurate representation.

That's gotta be AI or she stole the boots in the front of that sled from KISS.

Obviously staged. Not miners supplies on the sled, blankets mostly and what looks like platform boots. She is quite attractive and fashionably dressed. No way is she pulling that sled through ice and mud in those slick soled boots. She is also being very careful not to let that nasty rusty chain touch her fine clothes.

Most of the time. Unless they’re on the cover of The Furtaker wearing their most loved jeans

This. If a cute gal were sitting at the Canadian entry point with a sled of goods last point a man would see a woman most likely, she would make a killing. Especially with the traveling miners who deemed to not have enough weight and were required to come up with more.
Great photo nonetheless.

She would have some leg muscles pulling that a few hundred miles. They would look like rope. The runners on that sled don't look very efficient either.

Those were interesting times and could fill many books and/or movies. In Pale Rider there was nothing superficial or lustful when Megan yelled her love to the Preacher.

Cool picture. Those clothes she is wearing look heavy. Glad to know the authorities cared so much about the people even over a 100 years ago that they put requirements on them for their own good.
