Was at the great american outdoor show today and was looking at Benchmade knifes. Just had a hard time pulling the trigger on one. Are they worth the money? How do the edge holds up? Was looking at the flyaway and mini bugout. Just wondering if anyone and any experience with these and are the worth the $$$.

I have a real hard time spending that kind of money on a knife when you can do the same thing with a much, much cheaper knife. I have a couple that are around $100+- but they are kinda special to me. Well if weren’t spending all that money on swifty concert tickets you could afford a decent knife..

I'm the kind of person to have either a cheap knife I sharpen a lot, or a hard knife I spend longer sharpening once but lasts way longer. (Don't drop it.) Either way I don't want to spend 200+ for a 1095 blade that's bulk manufactured.

I almost got me a bench made. Not even sure what model i was looking at. The one I was thinking about you could work the mechanical assit with either hand. I liked that because I wanted it for my left side. Already have decent Gerber carry on the right.

I have been looking at a few for years but nothing fits my hand and screaming I have got to have this like my combat survival Benchmade did. Unfortunately that Benchmade had mole compatible sheath and I had it on an assullt pack upside down so I could access it with the pack on. It worked great untill I was on a youth hunt on a 50k acre refuge hunt on an old ordinance testing area. While dragging a deer with the boys it came in snapped and I didn't notice it was gone untill after we left. the property is restricted and I couldn't get back in to look for it after 8pm. You get one day during set hours.
So I typically use Kershaw because theybare good enough and cheap enough it doesn't hurt to bad if they get lost or broken.
thanks Dave I didn't know that won't buy another one.

Be careful when buying Benchmade there are a lot of fakes out there that are hard to tell from original Benchmade knives. Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer 1000000% this. I've seen a lot of clones for all the high end knives. I wouldn't buy any on the secondary market. Some are almost identical, down to bar codes, packaging, everything.

ADC, I don’t know what you are using the knife for but I have went with the outdoor edge 3.0 razorlite edc. I purchased a set of drop point, caping, and gut hook blades. I switch the blades to suit my needs and they sharpen pretty easily. You can get replacement blades online fairly cheap. Eric I have more knives than anyone should need in several lifetimes. Everything from the cheapest little pocket knives to a fairly large collection of old butcher knives, a kitchen drawer full of various slicers from paring knives to 15" brisket knives, to a dozen + fillet knives, several skinner style knives of various sizes and shapes, a couple or three dozen resharpened butcher shop knives, even a switch blade and a couple butterfly knives, a few hunting knives mainly Buck, a couple nice Case pocket knives, even a couple machetes, but the one style I don't have are those with the interchangeable scalpel type blades. I had one and sold it off fast. I'm not careful enough to use them. If you cut into bone or teeth as I'm prone to do while skinning they are instantly dull. They just aren't for me.

MKT, Montana Knife Company, has been running a LOT of prime time TV commercials for their product. Can't imagine how that's gonna pay off for them?
