I stopped by Nick's feed store RBG maker in Holland on my way home last week and picked up some urine lure and stakes. Gave them to my 14 year old and the next day 2 days ago he put out a few sets.

Yesterday I got this nest raiding trap plugging picture [Linked Image]

And this morning I got this picture. [Linked Image]
He has a possum also but didn't bother sending me a picture of that.

This is his 2nd year all on his own and I think 5th coyote all on his own. Many more but dad was there to help with those. He is really coming along and at 14 doesn't need dad for much any more. It's bitter sweet.

I just asked him it's was a female. Good to know there won't be another litter of pups out of her.

Looks like the area he caught a double last year.

Looks like you have taught him well. Congratulations!

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

Great to see young kids still getting involved in trapping It is more than just a hobby It can teach adults and kids alike a sense of responsibility that can be a part of the way they handle what life has to hand you in the future and it proves hard work and effort pays off And it can instill a sese of pride when your goals are achieved And for me it keeps me humble because you never run out of lessons to learn Congrats on his catches so far THAT IS IMPRESSIVE for someone new at the art of trapping Ands as for the sentence regarding him needing his Dad ANYMORE I believe you have done a good job of setting him out on the right path Keep building on that and it will last you a lifetime of great memories and shared times together Remember the saying in the Bible Train up a child in the way he should go and he will never depart from it even when he is old Nice post

he got nothing yesterday and a possum today. I'm not sure how many sets he has out and he is only trapping on our 96 acres but only on maybe half of that to stay away from the houses to avoid the cats as much as possible.

The boys went in and bought an old 4 wheeler and were talking about trapping at our friends 100 about a mile down the road. Typically we pick up a few yotes, fox, coon, skunk and beaver there. he is on an ox bow and 14 mile creek makes a u around his property. Last year my youngest 12 now caught his first fox all on his own there in a dirt hole on a 4 wheeler trail 49 yards from the chicken coop. Edit and otter caught a few otters there. it's always so late in the year the quota has been filled so they have to be let go or turned over.

I have 20 hrs between shifts when I get off at 11 tonight. think I will go home and check traps witjh him in the morning if we cut a few loads of wood Go with him and set over there.( if he has called and made sure they are done running the beagles for a week or two.
