Woah there bud, country music ain’t dead.

I just put the finishing touches on this beauty. Key of G, 3/4 time (that’s a waltz for you nonmusical folk)

Started it sometime ago and just got back to it the past couple days. A #1 for sure.

In a country tuxedo
A woods thick wit mosquitoes
He surveyed trails crossing a dam

He munched on a sandwich
Provalone and turkey
and was thinking it'd be better with ham

His keen observation
Revealed the location
He'd set a three-thirty, no stand

The safeties were off,
when he got a cough
And yup it slammed shut on his hand

That’ll leave a mark that won't heal
He should have used snares but he went with the steel
He's had some close calls
About Crapped in his overalls
This time could be the real deal
He picked a bad time to go with the steel.

He didn't have healthcare
His thumbs, no longer a pair
He wondered how he'd open his beer

He pondered a solution
But found no resolution
And his one eye glazed over with a tear

I couldn’t take action
Cause I lack compassion
And my laughter I couldn’t contain

He called me a jerk
Can’t you see how it hurts
And his face started swelling with pain

That'll leave a mark that won't heal
He should have used snares but he went with the steel
He's had some close calls
About Crapped in his overalls
This time could be the real deal
He picked a bad time to go with the steel.

He climbed up the bank
And on his knees he gave thanks
To the healer of all broken bones

His good hand retrieved a cell phone
Turn to me and said git gone
And dialed his ole buddy Matt Jones

I made my way to my truck
Turned and wished him good luck
I heard him cry out as I spun my tires in the sand

“I’d like to know the reason
After my 54th season
Why’d You let a 330 break my hand”

I went on youtube to give a listen. I like a wide variety of music. Did not like that. At all. Who does and how is a winner picked?

The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by more than 6,000 industry professional members of the Country Music Association, which when established in 1958, became the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music.

The way it is performed is a bit faster than that, leaning a little more bluegrass.
