Looking to grinding up some trout scraps for coon bait. Got plastic quart jars to store it in. What the best way to preserve it. Salt? How much per quart. Anything else i should add with it? Thanks

Canning it works real well. Gets very soft. Coon has to dig around to get it out of a hole or dp. I gut them and can the rest of the fish. Lots of odor. Works if you make fish sticks with notches cut in limbs. if your going to make fish sticks with #9 welded on rebar I would freeze it in multiple containers. Just thaw as needed. I personally dont like salted. It works but is messy.

Many years ago I made a bait for myself and sold through the trappers supply I operated. It was made totally of crawdads. I used bagged livestock salt. It worked well and caught the heck out of coon and otter.
