Just ordered a SS 20" barrel/side charging upper in .223 Wylde.

Opinions?

Yep...it's a Bear Creek Arsenal upper. I took the chance as their customer service reviews appear to be fair.

This will be topping my Bushmaster AR and mostly a dedicated predator rifle in these thick deep South woodlands. Optics will be my AGM Rattler V2 384.

Once I decide on a suppressor (.30 cal or .223 cal)...that will be next.

I have only 2 data points using BCA uppers. Both are 6 ARC, both shoot sub-MOA.

For the price, they are a bargain.

I had bad luck with their .350 uppers but I don't know about any other calibers. Good luck.

Thanks for replying CK.

The one I just ordered was $230.

Lots of good reviews, but a few mentioned some grouping/loading issues that were rectified quickly by BCA.

hit or miss , if it works it works , run a couple hundred rounds while you can still send it back for repair/replace

could be said about any make gun anymore , I think manufacturers know the average number of rounds in a gun is now so low it means there are millions of un-fired guns sitting around.

so OTDIG out the door it goes , if there is an issue the customer can call the service line and they can exchange it for a working one but only one in 10 guns is getting shot any more it would seem.

and the ones that never get shot , well no one knows is they have an issue

any gun now be ready to run a couple hundred rounds , or if a bolt action hunting gun 50 or so

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Really only have experience with there parts , three or four barrels now one upper . There a bit rough really really really reccomended doing a break in on BCA barrels.

Don't have any of there side charging stuff but just be careful and inspect the BCG latest problem I've seen is them coming loose out of the box . That being said there a few guys over on ACCURATE Shooter. Who love the side chargers and build Fclass no gas rigs with them. But of a separate deal though.

My advice though to make it shoot as good as possible. Clean the barrel with an abrasive as soon as you get it. Losso or JB. Worked for me. Regular solvent then shoot a few rounds and repeat.. like 10min worth of work to start...maybe an hour total but seems to make these cheap barrels work better

Got some bore scope videos of so of my BCA barrels if youd like me to post

I've had issues with them, and with the cost/time involved with shipping anything back and forth around here, I buy other brands. But, they did make right on their issues. I had one standard rear charging .223 Wylde that had a marred up BCG that wouldn't seat into full battery, therefore wouldn't shoot, and they sent me a new BCG (I put a nicer one in the rifle, so the one they sent me is a spare, but it does function). I also got a side charging .300 BLK from them, and the charging handle kept coming off, and if you actually torque it, it'll mushroom out the charging handle. My understanding is they have an improved design for the charging handles now, but after getting 2 lemons I decided to spend a little more going forward, and I have yet to be disappointed. The positive is, bear creek made right both times, they sent me replacement BCG for the one, and they gave me my money back for the side charger

Over on another forum the consensus is you either get a gem or a turd, there’s no in between. Some guys shoot MOA and some claim they couldn’t hit a barn from 25yds.
