The Kansas Fur Harvesters Assocation will be having our fur auction on March 15 at the National Guard Armory in Abilene. This is across the road to the north of Sterl Hall where the auction was last year. Doors open at 7 am and the auction will start at 9 am. Contact Roger Macy for lot numbers 785-346-2076.
New this year: We will be allowing other trapping related items to be sold in addition to fur. This includes by-products (skulls, glands, tails, feet, etc), traps/equipment, antler and tanned fur. All by-products must be contained in hard sided containers. All items will be sold by lot, not by weight. Make sure items meet KDWP regulations. We will also be allowing carcass fur this year, mainly for unique items that may be taxidermy quality. Be advised that many common carcass animals such as raccoons, coyotes and opossums are not wanted and will likely not receive a bid. Any item that doesn't receive a bid will be going back home with the trapper.
Here are last year's sale averages:
Badger - $10.13 average, (2 sold) Beaver - $33.73 average, (72 sold) Bobcat - $127.96 average, (136 sold) Coyote - $6.14 average, (58 sold) Red Fox - $10.25 average, (4 sold) Muskrat - $2.15 average, (12 sold) Opossum - $1.07 average, (33 sold) Raccoon - $3.37 average, (263 sold) Skunk - $11.20 average, (43 sold)
Our buyers would like to see more fur at this auction. We hope to see you there!

What is the requirement to buy glands? Just show up and bid on them. No fur buyers license required to buy the by-products. You'll settle up with the trappers before they leave, same as fur. Not sure how much of that type of thing will be there as this is the first year for it, but our hope is this will bring more buyers and sellers to the auction.

any word on how many buyers are attending? I think it will be similar to last year as far as number of buyers. I do think we'll have more fur and other items at the sale this year.

Bump for the Kansas guys. Hopefully the prices paid for those good western cats will start dragging everything else up too.

Why throw it on the floor? The fur, sellers and buyers deserve better. Looks to me like they're all on tarps

Why throw it on the floor? The fur, sellers and buyers deserve better. HaHa You're on track! Those elderly fur buyers (like the one with a cane in the photo) will not bend over to pick the fur up, and it's difficult to grade on the floor with just a walk by.

We need younger furbuyers, more speculative maybe?
