Our district had 3 small sales about 10-12 years ago. We had around 3,000 pelts at our first one and the last was down to about 800. We just could not find many buyers to attend our sales. I see many of these association sales with limited fur and in some cases several buyers. That is good to see. Maybe long term commitment is important to help build the auction.
To me with these low prices for our typical Midwestern fur it may be good to have association sales. If one is going to lose money and get low prices we may just well do that and spend some time with our fellow trappers. I can see the far western cat sales as those have fur worth a lot of money.
