When you guys set up bait site for wolves and coyotes… to you set 1st then bait(wait a few days), Both at the same time? Or come back later and set.
Been baiting this spot for years, so I know the runs. I have always did the bait… wait… and set.

I typically like to get them feeding on them before setting. Our coyotes can be finicky around carcasses. You can spook them away by catching the first one or two that come around or leaving too much scent around before they start hitting it. Once they start feeding on it they seem more tolerable about human scent and catches.

I dump a gut bucket or two, two or three times at a jackpot site I am going to activate a couple weeks before I open the snares,If I am doing nuisance beaver work and dont have to go out of my way too far I will dump the beaver carcasses at jackpot sites all summer.
I bring in a hundred pounds or so of bait(3 or 4 beaver carcasses or moose scraps) same day I open the snares.(open snares first then go back to the bike and haul in the bait).
Dont want to induce bait smells on or around your snares.
For wolves, once I make a few catches,I de activate the site by closing the snares then I will activate another jackpot at another location to target a different pack.
For cats you can catch them all season long at the same jackpots.
Three or four cat jackpots in good spots will put a pile of pelts on your boards.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
