That was a good machine, but finding another motor for it will be tough. And I've heard that you can't get some of the parts for them. I'd check into that before I bought it.

Reasonable price, if 440 can’t be rebuilt put a 503 in it, should be able to find one cheap.

GUK.....it's the sound they make when they hit the end of the cable

Get it for $500 or less, price out parts for a rebuild & windshield plus labour and show it to him. Ask him if he’ll entertain $300
“I know it’s low but it’s all I can do. If it doesn’t sell give me a call”.
You’ll get it for 3-400 if he wants it gone. Is it seized from sitting?

Probably $700+ in parts there if the motor is all that's bad. Still wouldn't offer what he's asking, but I'm sure he'd rather have $400 than a project he's never got around to

Thanks all of you . The now owner bought it to fix so he is not sure of what happened . Sounds like he is reasonable and I am going to get some more boot and will get back to report . Are these engines made like a chain saw to put sleeves in rather than boring ?

I'm not an expert on the gasoline powered side of things, but I don't know of any gas engines that are jacketed, even light duty diesels aren't. That's done in industrial diesel engines (heavy equipment, highway trucks, off highway trucks, and marine applications)

I have not messed with the 440 but I believe its a smaller version of the 503 and those have sleeves. But usually you can just bore them over instead of sleeving them.

Looked at my parts manual. No sleeves shown. Just jugs.

As far as I know ski-doo has never sold sleeves even on the engines you could re-sleeve.

I am inclined to trade into this blind for now . I do not need a sled like you folks do ,though it would be handy .I kick myself for selling my Tundra .Thanks for the help .

Too bad you're so far away, I have a 2004 sitting by my cabin that has a good motor (and everything else really) but needs a transmission according to my friend who gave it to me. I haven't had time to mess with it yet aside from verifying that it will start and run

AK, do you have 2004 440? If it needs a transmission it must be the other skandics?

A friend of mine had a mid 2000s Skandic 550 that he had to put a tranny in when he bought it (bought two of them, and he didn't know one had a hole in the tranny they had JB welded and obviously ran it out of fluid, it went out on him in about a week of use). Those things were spendy.

And I was mistaken, it's not a 2004. I looked at the title, it's a 2006
