Yotes and coons. Only caught one yote before but hoping to catch some more soon!

Fisher.
Maybe it’s because they’re plentiful and easy, maybe it’s just because they’re so darn cool? Either way I love throwing some gusto on a hunk of hide near a box and returning later to collect my fisher.
I also catch coyotes and lynx.
I used to go after mink, otter and fox but have not been targeting them for various reasons.
Truthfully all of the beaver I trap are done just for bear bait and the fifty dollar bounty our local government gives for the tail.

I love trapping marten, since I am smarter than most marten...!

However my favorites are wolves and wolverines. Probably because of the challenge; most of them are WAY smarter than I am!

Red fox with beaver in a close second place. One I'm pretty good at, the other, not so much.

Eh...wot?

This is what I would say too. I am just as happy to roll up on a set with either one, I can usually only predict with a high certainty that I will have one of them the first night.

Otter are probably my favorite. I also really enjoy beaver and mink. I just really like water trapping, especially under the ice. I got my first bobcat this year and can see how that would be addicting, but there’s none to trap where I live. Same with marten. Super fun to trap, but require a dedicated trip.

Blind set because you know you thinking like the animal to know where it will walk before it does.

When water trapping with my daughters the excitement was always the first mink of the year. Have not hit the ditches in a few years but the youngest wants to "make time for dad" next year. Looking forward to it. Here is a pic of the first mink of the year a few years ago. Wish I would have taken more pics over the years. Got three that year I think.

I've went through phases during my 58 years of trapping. I've enjoyed trapping every furbearer in Wisconsin and worked on being successful on all of them. Recently I've enjoyed trapping coon the most but weasel trapping also gives me a rush every time I catch one.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

My preference changes with relative profitability for me. Over the years beaver, bobcat, otter, back to bobcat, now spotted skunk.

Since I was a little kid, winter weasel trapping is the most fun. Beaver would be next.

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.
