That's been a done deal for a while already.

Their numbers were dropping bad so they bet on getting whole families into their organization. The Girl Scouts were po'ed but they went woke before BSA.

I think national BSA actually filed for bankruptcy before covid happened to get out from all the old sexual abuse lawsuits.Our local council sold a non-flushing toilets camp (one of the "problems") to the SD State Parks part of GF&P to get rid of a couple of issues. A state park was on the south side of the Scout camp land and a state wildlife production area on the north side so it was a nice fit. Located in one of the few actual forest patches in this part of South Dakota. I spent a good amount of time in that Boy Scout camp and was sad to see it go, although Scouts as an organization was going down the tubes viewed in the way it used to be.

Maybe they said it was to be more inclusive but is bet more to distance themselves from the name associated with the giant sexual abuse scandal and the near one billion dollar settlement.

It sucks that a formerly great organization, let pedophile gay men into it's organization, that abused the boys they were tasked to help develop into great men and then instead of reversing back to what they were, when the crimes were uncovered, went woke and destroyed the organization.

I hope something entirely new replaces BSA, completely not connected to it.

Boyscout were literally sued out of existence. They had too many lawsuits against them for SA and they restructured completely after bankruptcy.

But the Catholic church is still going strong and loaded with money.

I had a great Troop with no homo Scoutmasters or parents--that I knew of. And, it was based out our Catholic Church! We were legit with serious backpacking and wilderness survival. One of our leaders was a follower of Tom Brown (the wilderness survival expert). We never sold popcorn in front of Walmart.

I loved Scouts but skipped it for my boys. Not the same opportunity.

Some of my best memories as a kid involve the cub scouts and boy scouts.

Boy scouts got me interested in trapping. Had a lot of adventures. Reinforced values I learned at home.

If he was a true Tom Brown disciple that must've been one heck of an adventure.

My father was my boy scout master. He was disappointed I never made Eagle but he understood when I said there was no trapping merit badge and all this other stuff was cutting into my hunting, fishing and trapping time.

I'm walking my grandson through an older boy scout manual. It's still a good primer.

Quit donating to the association a lot of years ago. Was obvious where it was headed. Feel for the great scout masters that fought tell the end.

Lots of great memories of my Boy Scout days. Both as a boy and an adult. I haven't been involved in the program for over 30 years now.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that, at one time, girls had to be allowed to join Boy Scouts but a boy could not join Girl Scouts. Am I mistaken?

I am currently Scout Master, am an Eagle Scout as is my oldest son. Youngest son will get Eagle in about a year and a half. Our Troop is 90 years old and I am afraid this group of boys will be the last. For the above comments: Girl and Boy Scouts did not combine. Girl Scouts is virtually dead now. Boy Scouts will probably be there in 10 years. The lawsuit was $2.46 Billion. Unfortunately some definite fraud in there. Allegations were allowed on leaders that are dead. Someone wants part of the payout? Accuse the dead leader that can't defend their reputation. Scout dues were $12 ten years ago. Scout dues now are $85 to pay for the lawsuit and sky high insurance because of it.

Is Trail Life USA similar? I didn't know they exist until I googled it.
