LOL. LOL. UTA results were posted much earlier than I anticipated (Uh-Oh). GOOD JOB UTA! So the results caught me off guard because the winner obviously made his "guess" with insider knowledge. Wallfur "guessed" $5,631.40. The total for my 8 cats was $5,631.44!!! While it doesn't seem fair to others to give the prize to Wallfur, he did not break the rules as I laid them out! So I am sending a pussytoes bobble to Wallfur (well played - you cheater LOL) and also one to the REAL WINNER - Crappiekiller the closest guess of $4,350 - Congratulations.

[Linked Image]
My average for the 8 cats was $668.93. This average was really brought down by female #5 ($60.44) which had bare patches around the nipples. The average for the other 7 without her is $796. I haven't seen averages for the sale but obviously the bobcat market is very strong this year!!! I am very surprised and pleased.

Crappiekiller and Wallfur send me a PM with your addresses Please.

And thanks for playing everyone.

Interesting bids. Most of the major cat buyers bid with cents at the end of their bid amount. If you find out the buyer would be curious to know who it was if you are willing to post it.

Slick thats always been the case, it's kinda showman ship thing, I've seen the same numbers since years back on the same family or business buying fur.

Not difficult to know who buys what lot really, it's usually announced when the winning bid is read

It's interesting to me that cats are that high really, not saying anything about Dan's work here or anything of that matter, seen and handled his work it's impeccable, and hopefully buy from him again. Just that never had seen or read of any up's on them or reasons for taking them this year, our Utah cats are comparable to any western state here and we have some great cats !!

Just have to say congrats and you hit it right this year, it's to bad the DWR mess's with the tag limit every year though !!

Dan, let's hear what your own guess was. Care to share? I'll bet it was less than what you realized.

My point is there is no cents added on except for lot 1268. Since I was not there I would have no idea who bought the cats. I would like to know because it could effect the price moving forward if there is an outside buyer different than normal.

I was guessing around 3700 - 4,000 based on what my cats brought last year and taking into account the titbelly female. But you never know what the market demand looks like until this Utah sale each year. So I was surprised and pleased.

I want everyone to know Wallfur declined the prize because of insider knowledge. He is quite the gentleman for being such a cheater, and we had a good laugh over it:)

I got a question. What will cats that expensive be used for? If buyers already in just the pelt for 1000 bucks how will they use it to make money. I might see a whole cat bringing that fir a full mount. Crazy
Great job !!!

I still don't see anything here but buyers advertising, nothing going on off the sidelines, it's a great thing to be in on the selling part though LOL, cats are always in demand in the west, there are a couple more auctions yet to see if this holds !

Doubt one would see any negatives if prices move higher, probably just my self wondering why if there is no public demand ?

Jbyrd, the Russians have figured out ways around sanctions. Coats being made in Greece/Turkey and end product paid for with all that oil money.

Anyway, that's my theory.

Congrats Dan. Good genetics is half the battle, caring for and putting the pelts up properly is the other half.
Good on you.

I agree with peelers theory.

I've never understood why so many trappers complain about "rich folks" making "too much money". I takes some high rollers to create a market for high dollar cats or any other fur to be profitable. It ain't your Cousin Eddie driving 1000+ cat prices.

All jokes aside, I just used the amount it would take me to catch 8 cats.
