Just wondering how you go about processing them. I've always thought that those big hind feet nails would make some cute necklaces.

Basically the same way you do any claw. Remove at the joint, leave bone in, scrap away and flesh, dry. Then ready to use or sell.

It is a tedious process but once you figure it out, it goes fairly fast.

I used to make claw necklaces.
Bear wolf lynx and also beaver.
I cut the rwo big claws off each hind foot at the last joint and throw them in a coffee can to dry.
When I have time I will take the claw and use a penknife to break/scrape off any excess dry tissue, then a file to clean up the bone. Then a dremel tool to polish the claw and bone. You have to be careful polishing the claw with the dremel not to burn it..Then you can drill a hole or screw a small gold or silver eyehook into the bone.A claw necklace well made with top material sell anywhere from 15 dollars up to 100+ depending on the specie and design(bone pipe glass bead number of claws etc)
Nowadays I just sell the rough dry beaver claws for a dollar a piece to people who want to create their own art.,

I wonder if you could throw them in a crock pot for some hours and soften the flesh and skin around them to make things easier. I'm lazy.

That’s what I did with a bunch of wolf claws. Then I dried them out and used a dremel with a soft bristle brush end.
I just clicked “buy now” and ordered a bunch of silver and gold eye screws. Could never find those because I didn’t have the right words in the search bar. Thanks Boco!

Whatever you do dont boil or soak the claws,it will make the sheath come off the bone making them worthless for jewellery.

Uh oh. These were in the crock pot on high so wasn’t a true boil.

That’s the one claw that fell out of my polar bear. Can’t sell that one here. I’ll make something for myself out of it.
