I’m wanting to get some Sleepy Creek #3 but it seems everywhere I find online that sells them has a note that they’re either out of stock or unavailable. Is it just the time of year or did they stop making them? Im new to trapping so maybe this is common knowledge but I don’t know. I searched on here and didn’t find anything that said they discontinued them. Thanks.

Southern Snares was going to be making them again but with metal prices i dont think they ever did.

Sleepy Creek Traps have been closed down for years. Funke's in Iowa are making their other products now, but not the traps. SBBB says Southern Snares, that is probably correct, but I knew someone had their dies and whatever it takes to manufacture the traps. Too bad Duke doesn't buy them, they could get traps back on the shelves. (that ought to stir up some of the folks here, lol)

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Lots of good #3 long springs out there. Blake & Lambs and Victors. A little modification and they’re mighty good.

I’ve been able to find a few sleepy creek 1 1/2’s but that’s pretty much it for longsprings. Try LPC, they make a very good DLS. Pretty much the exact same design as the old Newhouse traps. They are however “VERY” expensive. I still use a couple old Newhouse #4 on coyote and have 3 of the LPC #4. The Bridger will probably be your best bet price wise.

What kind of modifications do the other brands of long spring need?

A good solid center swivel base plate, shim the pan, close the dog eye some on a bridger number 4 dbl long and they make a solid predator trap.

I’d like some #2 offsets. That would be fun to play around with.

Last time (over a year ago) I was at Brian's most of the Sleepy Creek machines were still crated and stacked in his big building.
