The 1.5s will hold though they'll miss more than you'd like.

Are the #2s the square jaws? If so sell em to a mink trapper. The round jaws will work too.

I have some as well but prefer them for mink. I moved to all offset in case a loose pet got in my sets.

I’ve caught most of my coyotes in MB550s. Some were closed jaws. Most were offset jaws. The rest were in Montana #3 offsets. Both of these traps are heavy duty and shouldn’t ever be damaged the way the Victor 1 1/2 or 2 will be.

If the #2’s are round jaw they’ll hold coyotes! I’ve used the Victor #2 and it’s copycat the duke #2 to catch and hold plenty coyotes. I have many other traps that do the job better as far as jaw spread and beefiness goes, but the ROUND jaw Victors will hold them

I used the Duke #2 round jaw and never had problems holding coyote. The traps need a little adjusting but they work just fine. Used the older Victor #2 square jaws and they were not heavy enough to hold some of our bigger northern coyote.

I ran #2 victir round jaw baseplated for years without issue holding predators

… I did end up putting pit pans with a stainless rod dog on them though.. got tired of bent up stock dogs

I have caught a lot of fur in the victor 1.5 and several coyote thru the years. I don’t target them in those traps but when it happen it only takes a toe to hold one

Before I got on these forums I targeted coyotes with 1 1/2 Dukes, held them just fine, until I found out on here it can't be done so I don't use them anymore. Only thing I did was weld the j hooks shut and carried pliers to straighten the dogs if they got bent after a catch.
