I have just about every type of trap you could think of, but over the years I’ve caught more cats in plain old duke #3’s than anything.

This has probably been asked before,,, but What is you go to cat trap….
Asking for a cage trapper in therapy…… Snares hands down. True, but there are a lot of guys who try to manage cats to one degree or another. Snares when allowed sort of rule out release. I was never so driven to get the limit of 5 that I didn’t want to release younger females. Some want the max and that’s fine. Osky

… I like bridger 2 dogless…. Mainly for ease of setting/bedding and low maintenance … but they work … recommend 4 coil

Even if they have a bum foot when released they may live. With a snare around them, they never do.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Cotton I never git toe catches. It has made me think that ie another advantage to setting exposed. Well boxed in the cat chooses the only step he can take and centers his foot on the pan.

Not harvesting those is just wasting the resource. [/quote] I understand tha. I’m speaking more of western trapping these days. Starting season in fall there are a ton of days in Montana, Wyoming, and other states that are getting temps up to the 60’s on into January in areas. Killing a young female, no, I think for what they bring a lot of trappers here would rather give the cat a shot. I don’t shoot small ones when I call them in either. Boco I’m not standing on a soap box, of course your weather and area are very different. You do what you do for you, others the same. All good. Osky
