If you put the cheapest gas with ethanol in your new sled you will have similar problems. Not saying that’s what you do, but it’s where most problems start with anything that sits a while.

Premium gas with no ethanol and a shot of startron enzyme fuel treatment has been a life saver for all my stuff that sits. Mud motets, generators, outboards, mowers, trimmers, snow machines, all of it.

Good luck on the sale!

You can ride farther in 5 minutes than you can walk in 8 hours.

How fast are you going? 5 minutes at 60 MPH is 5 miles. Uninjued human walking speed is 3 mph. in the cold and snow id cut that in half.

It is not unheard of to cruise much faster than 60 MPH in the right places. Not everywhere is as flat as Ohio either, just sayin.

Doing 60 on a 2012 pogo tundra is down right “Larry the Enticer” stuff!

Appalachia ohio is not flat, my mistake. All points west of you are what I based that on, flat.

Shakey ya just gotta "send it!"

In my limited experience, even when you hit lakes on remote trap lines you can’t drive 60mph. Not even half that. Gear, sleds critters all limit speed.

I make pretty good time walking back after breakdowns, had a lot of practice. First part goes fast because I’m so mad, last part because I’m thinking of what I need to do to get machine back. Time flies! 😂

I don't have anyplace on my line that I could hit 6 mph let alone 60 ! Heck my machines won't even go 60 and I don't know why I'd want one that did. laugh

Have you done all the basics; check and drain any water out of the float bowls and tank, checked fuel pickup line in tank, vacuum line from crankcase to fuel pump, carb boots, spark (remember weak plugs don't spark the same when under compression), compression, etc.?

Generally if all the above checkout okay they will run. However, a couple of my friends have late 90's Skidoo Summits that will fire right up, run just fine for a bit, and then shut down, impossible to restart until the next day. I told my friends that I'm done tinkering with them and to put them on Craigslist and dump them.

BTW, as others have said, I wouldn't even consider a triple; dump then too.

Had a John Deere 440 Cyclone in the 80’s when it sill snowed it was flawless as long as you ran stabilizer in the gas and changed fuel lines every 2 years, I may have been lucky

I’m not sure how fast my fleet of Enticers go. After around 35-40 I’m too nervous to look down at the speedo long enough to read it. Far from a Cadillac ride.

As a certified small engine mechanic you know what you need, fuel air and spark. But you also need enough compression and the spark has to be at the correct time.

I hit 60 one time on my new machine, just to see what it would do. But I was on a plowed road, straightaway. 6 is a lot more common. The low range on my new Skandic is a real belt saver when you are doing 4-5 crawling around trails pulling a sled. Still on the original belt with over 6000 miles, couldn't say that with the old Tundras, and they were easy on belts, I thought. The Arctic Cat I had was a belt eater, went through them like candy.

I would never do that kind of speed pulling trapping gear, maybe that is what brings up the questions about my speed. I have been places it was doable. I rode 17 miles down Chamberlain Lake in Maine between 70 and 80 mph to go look at the trains abandoned up there, plenty of big open trail in the Pine Tree State to excercise the lungs on a healthy sled. Trail 2 going North of St. Ignace, MI is another that comes to mind, I hit triple digits up there more than a few times. A great number of big straight aways there that take your breath away.

My Arctic Cat Triple doesn’t require a bunch of fiddling around to start, and I am no certified mechanic, certifiable sometimes but even that is debateable....better luck on your next sled.
