![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-1790-247919-1000024387.jpg) This is a photo of pride. They've put on their best clothes, they've gathered up their possessions, their animals, their biggest melons, and put them all together to display their fortunes. This is the case with the thousands of photographs of plains homesteaders. They came from places where owning land and controlling their own destiny was limited or nonexistent. Most people see a tough life. It was, but these people felt pride and gratitude. (Photo by Solomon D. Butcher - Nebraska,1886) *We never have and never will post AI images.

Imagine the pride of the guy that built that house. The roof was strong enough to hold a milk cow.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Imagine the pride of the guy that built that house. The roof was strong enough to hold a milk cow. Might not be actually standing on the roof, looks like it might be dug into the side of that hill and the cow might be standing on the side of the hill not the roof Photos back then were taken seriously, they were also expensive comparatively speaking and so everyone wanted to look there best after all it might be the only photo they ever took

What is impressive to me is that the photographer even got the mules and dog to stand still and face the camera! Pulitizer prize if only he could've got the cow to turn to the camera!

That is when real pride was a man's pay. Happier people than there is now I bet.
