He shoots an Elephant with tusks over 180 pounds on the Great Sudd of the Nile, they rank at #4 all time!!

A McNabb on the Tana is another great story but they are all good.

The African safaris in this book cover a span of twenty-five years from 1950 to 1975, considered by many to be the golden age of big-game hunting on the African continent. Throughout the years Gates went on many exploratory safaris into little known areas with professional hunter, J.B. Blacklaws. This is the story of one man's adventure in an unparalleled paradise of wildlife--not only the "big five" (lion, leopard, Cape buffalo, rhino, elephant), but also all the antelopes and gazelles. Some of the chapters in this book include: "Year of the Bongo, Gung Ho for Bongo, One Lion Too Many, The Buffalo-Chicken Affair, The Safari that Opened Mozambique, Hunting the Sahara, Of Sand and Sheep, The gray Ghost of Bogangolo, The Caliph and the Kudu," and many more. Some first-class safari stories, written by a famous big-game hunter and writer.
