Hopefully the high prices help pull up the lower grades a bit. I've never had a cat hit over $300. Would sure love to before my time on earth is over.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Don't begrudge any one getting those averages for cats, would like to read some where why though ? Dose as always here in Utah though, scare the be Jeepers out of our DWR, and usually the tag amount moves down the next season !
Can't see buying that high on speculation and sitting on them, either , does not seem like a good business preposition to be in especially with the world affairs where they are right now.
Must have missed the noting of who is so interested, where's is Wiss Miss, she usually has this pretty well figured out ?

$9 average on coyotes! Why is no one asking about that elaphant in the room? My guess is the coyotes are not mush to be desired. Utah has coyotes that are all over the plase as far as quality and only the best are selling at decent prices.

Skunks are always taken to be worth less but a good seller of product can usually make as much on them as a very nice Red fox or nice coyote if they prep right to deal with the scent being what it is, and know about when they have a great price compared to just a regular one !
Badgers are another great fur that is always low for some reason, and I always snap them up with out hesitation if I get a nice picture of them, I now have several sellers always happy to sell both to me for my leather work inventory !!
A smart trapper knows what is selling by checking before they start harvesting, usually be talking with the person they most deal with who pays them for both there time and efforts in making their fur worth looking !!
I feel very happy to have several trappers and fur takers who now contact me every year for my needs all through the west and several areas east for water fur, and they know I don't purchase a lot, but they also know I don't ever cut them short either, and I do move around on fur every year, maybe one day I will invest the capital to buy some cats !!

Gritguy, you never contacted me about these 1000 mudrat hides ive been saving for you, lol
IF you want to know why those type cats bring those type price's, run check out how many coats are made of those annually and what they sell for!
I know long ago i saw Russian Lynx sell for 1500.00 each and that was in the 80s but only a few coats were made from them annually due to their rarity and those coats fetched 250 grand each!
Not my circus, not my clowns.

J was in Canada one time on a tour with family many years ago, and every time we stopped for a dinner or breakfast I always grabbed the phone index for fur sellers or buyer's if they were close we would just buzz over.
Was amazed at the fur these people would just collect for years with out selling it, some wasn't worth even looking at was so old others was tanned and kept in great condition.
Found a buyer that I bought fur from for several years who sold me wolf, lynx, all manner of fox and even a few wolverine, always gave my a great price and they were not tanned either but put up as if selling for taxidermy which just right for my needs,, did all the paper work and shipping to my place everyone one sold after I did my work on them was a great time, unfortunately he did pass on and the business was never sold or stayed in operation to my knowledge. Wish I could find another supplier willing to just sell raw fur without trying to make a life saving account every sell LOL just be the seller and not the name breaker !!
Yes I am smart enough now to know that few and far in between that not many coats are made to just sit on racks, I have also been around long enough to know that it only takes one buyer each or every other year to start a advertising scheme by buying a couple cats they {feel} worth that bid they give to keep them in notice till the next season.
You move around to much to keep track of any more since you settled down, don't even know what you do with your time now LOL , never ever seen you in here more than twice a year now, heck you are in here once a month any more !!

One winter we averaged around $350 on our butt ugly MN cats at NAFA. I even got a Top Lot cat out of the deal.
I have nothing clever to put here.

$9 average on coyotes! Why is no one asking about that elaphant in the room? Guys have been told 'No Market for coyotes" but keep dumping them on the auctions. Maybe this will finally convince them! I haven’t even bothered to shoot one this year lol.
