I recently caught this cat while down in Kansas and at first thought I would have it tanned for my wall. But recently was told it was worth much more than our MN cats. I haven't put it up yet but for you cat trappers, can you give me an idea as to what it might bring at auction if put up correctly?

Decent belly. What does the back look like? Without seeing it in person, I’m thinking you will be disappointed if you think it will bring anywhere what Utah cats bring.

Rabbit back but not as bad as our MN cats are. Not expecting Utah cat prices but hope it would bring more than our local cats bring.

Narrow belly, but it looks white to me down the center from chin to tail, so I would call it "narrow", not "casty ". Always hard to tell from a picture, and I've not looked at much for Kansas cats so I'm not real familiar with the fur quality. But if it is furred up like ours I'd expect more in the 250 range.

That's originally what I had in mind but if it would bring over $200 I would probably sell it to cover trip expenses. Of course with Pawnee's commission it would have to be more....

I think it will bring more. That hourglass belly hurts it some but it is a dandy for KS

With prices I see currently at some sales I would think that cat would grade well. I have caught some cats in Kansas over the years that brought way more than I expected. However they were graded higher due to the quality of the cat, the clear belly and a good put up. Nevada stretch for sure.

All those factors will play in that decision. That certainly looks like a good one from the photo. Dust the fur and comb well with some borax and shake it out well to clean it up nicely. Make that fur stand up after cleaning and shaking it with a snapping action to help to establish some static condition of the fur.

This scout. If you would have had the chance in the round to brush it up and out to really bring out the snow for pictures .I bet some of these guys could get very close on sale value. I cannot, but I can say you caught a dandy, nice size as well. Congrats!

Thanks for the reply everyone. I have it skun out with feet on but not put up allowing me to make up my mind. I did better than I thought I might with my other two although they where smaller and not as nice. I have only done a few cats in the past but my buyers were very happy with my put ups. As much as I would like to see it hanging on my wall, I think it'll go to market. Thanks again.
