I am familiar with the overall poor views of USA FOXX with our members here. I have a guy that is a landowner I trap for that would like to buy rats from me, (that I trapped off his property as a favor to him, and a very large private territory that I have total discretion on all things trapping, for me). He would like to have some of them tanned and sewn into a throw or blanket. If needed, I can provide license information for the tanning and would prefer a "one-stop-shop". Suggestions? As an aside, we are located west coast, but doesn't matter, really.

Well, all of the above suggestions either don't do that sort of work, or don't do the tanning, only sewing. So, guess it's off to Moyles, then off to a sew-er. Was hoping to avoid the double shipping costs, as well as LOOOONNNGGG wait times.

That place in Maine is hooked up with a tannery, so for you it is a one stop deal......jk

You can get a guaranteed 90 day turnaround at Moyles for a 10% surcharge. Moyle also has quantity price breaks and the quantity you will need will more than offset the surcharge. For muskrats, qty. 21 to 99 are $10 each for tanning and another 10 cents each for the surcharge. I have done the 90 day deal multiple times and they have always been done on time.

I wasn't happy with USA FOXX. I had a coyote they made for me about 20 years ago from a coyote I got. But, some of the seams started to separate. Otherwise, the hat is in great condition. I called them to see if they could fix it? They refused and said my only option was to have them make a new hat.

I guess that’s why USA Foxx got run out of here, customer service? I looked them up, and there’s no “About Us” on their home page.

There are lots of bad stories involving USA Foxx.
Twenty-plus years ago they screwed up the tanning on furs I sent them, lost furs, torn furs, got back furs that weren't mine, ect.
That was the last time used them. I still send some out but started tanning my own for the bulk of them.
Eh...wot?

Well, I’d think you’d have good service with Moyles. He’s interviewed by Mark from Wiebe Trapline Adventures in the season 5, episode 7 IIRC. The whole show is at the NTA national. The old fella at Moyles has a heck of a story on how the gov tried to shut him down by confiscating and charging him for fur that their one department dropped off!!. The state apologized but not the Feds. If you watch the episode, that’s me where he’s interviewing Mr Sako exiting the picture. My moment in the big time!….lol

That place in Maine is hooked up with a tannery, so for you it is a one stop deal......jk I emailed them and was told they only work with already tanned fur.

I have used Moyles for probably 30 years and have been very happy with them. I was just looking for a place that did garment tanning and sewing in one place to simplify the process for the landowner I trapped the rats for. Another outfit I have used was New Method, out of San Francisco. They were very good when I first started using them back in the late 1980's, but quality took a serious turn for the worst in early 1990's. Years later, probably 2018, I sent them a very large coastal brown bear, (had to ship it in a dishwasher box/crate), and they did a pretty decent job. That said, for my own personal tanning jobs, I still use Moyles.
