In my case I even told the judge I was a trapper and he asked what kinds of animals I trapped. I told him and he replied "Interesting".

No in my case I was seated, then the defense and prosecution questioned us. They could dismiss jurors for cause and a certain number without cause. Both times the prosecution dismissed me without cause. Didn't like my looks, I guess.

Grand jury duty is a little different. Our job is to listen to the evidence and decide whether charges should be brought. There were two grand jury pools of seven selected. One will convene daily for the next 30 days and look at serious criminal cases. The second jury pool only looks at cases where the victims are minors. It does not convene daily but I have to call every night to see if I need to come in. I’m in the second pool. With any luck I’ll only have 4-5 days of duty this month and can continue trapping.

That is interesting. I had no idea. Wonder how you get selected for that ? I was chosen to appear for regular county jury duty and have to say I was not pleased with the process.

Have served four times for jury duty. Last time I got to the court house, sat around for an hour. Was told then to sign a paper for my one days pay of $40 and sent home. I think I'm good now for another 6 years after that date.

Slick, luck of the draw. In our jurisdiction they only pick grand juries once a month and the term of service is 30 days. The first jury pool has to come in every day. The second one (the one I'm in) is only looking at serious offenses concerning minors and only convenes 2-5 times over a 30 day period usually. At least that's what we're being told. I have to call in every night to see if the next day we convene. We won't be meeting at the court house but at a child advocate center.
