Ran out of fish frying oil for nest raider trapping. Bought a gallon of fish oil from one of the big reputable trapping supply houses. Was surprised it don't have much sent that I can smell. Was thinking would smell real fishy but smells clean and similar to vegetable oil. Do you think it will be OK for my application or should I add something to make more of a call lure. Like to trap high bank and squirt trail into creeks.

I have squirted it in a dirthole and caught coyotes .If you want to enhance the odor get a separate bottle add some sardine juice and fish oil in it and shake it up. Like said shellfish oil or trout oil is louder.

Problem is some of that stuff goes flat in storage after a while. Especially synthetics like shellfish oil.

It will work as is, but I always spice it up a little. Dump a bottle of coon lure in it and shake it up. Or spike it with shellfish oil.

My experience is the big guys are some of the worst to buy lure making ingredients from. With that said pressed fish oil (which from ur description im guessing u got) is sub standard compared to quality sun rendered oil.

Shellfish or get pressed salmon oil instead of fish oil. Another thing I did sometimes was go buy a few tins of sardines in oil from local dollar general. Should only be about a buck a piece. Open up the tins and pour the sardine oil into your fish oil you bought. The sardines either you can eat or use those for bait too.
Your bought oil with low odor will at least now smell a little fishier.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Some people get greedy and thin it down too much.

Go to a local restaurant that does fish fries. Get some of that used fryer oil. You may have to strain out the chunks of fried batter, but it should be fine. And it’s free

Never too old to learn

If you like eating sardines, especially smoked sardines, drain the excess oil out of the container into a clean jar with a screw top lid that has a seal (I use salsa jars washed real well). Save it and add to any "fish oil" that you buy.

Down here shell fish oil will out perform fish oil hands down. You make a pocket set with a crawfish and little shellfish oil , and you will catch, and I mean catch. Fish oil works but it doesn't seem to draw them like shellfish oil.

Buy a gallon of veggie oil and add 3 cans of sardines or smoked oysters and shake it up real well. This works very good and is cheap and any dollar store will have what you need.
