Sold my furs to Groenwold this morning. Got about what I expected except for rats. Hoped to average $3.00 for them but paid a flat rate of $2.25 for 28 of them. Otherwise I got a flat rate of $7.00 for 19 mink, $25.00 for an otter, and $40.00 for my fisher. It is what it is I guess.

Sure not much good news or optimism in the fur market world right now.
Only positive thing I’ve heard all fall/winter was a couple days ago I was told that there’s a bit more interest in otter.
End users are committing later and later in the buying season every year. Has to be super frustrating for the buyers.

Yup, stretched and dried. Size range was typical. Couple smalls, few XLs, most medium/large.

Not sure about that, never seen such little optimism in the rat market in my life time.

There is a market for coons and rats, it's just very cheap! And I think there is no hope at all for coyotes. Red fox seem to be eliciting some interest along with marten, fisher, and otter. It might be a good idea to sell as late as possible this season.

How much is groney paying for coons? I got about 70 of them. Seemed like there were a lot of coons this year.

Coons depend on size and quality of course.
We have pretty good coons here. Sold all green, they paid 10 for anything they classed as large? (and bigger). Mediums were 6, the rest 3.

When I asked that question a few years ago at our AGM, I got the look……”between 25 cents and $30”……lol. Good ole Dave Bewick, I asked and he told the truth.

Ten dollar average on coon means you sold the hide, skull, meat, feet, and baculum for a 10 dollar average on a hundred coon and grossed 900 bucks.
