Just close the dumpster throw a rachet strap on it and you've got em all.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

I did a removal job similiar to that, for a Burger King (Utn) many years ago in a nearby town. I took 17 out with a snare pole and several transfer cages. The most coons I have taken from a dumpser on a single service call.

Basically they got in by sliding down the steel walls and couldn't climb back up due to the height and the smooth steel side walls.

My dumpser had a side plastic slide door that I made entry thru and slid the door closed behind me once I made entry on foot.It was about 3 ft high, Didn't want to lose too many as I was charging by the head count. A great payday for me.

Not a real good idea but it worked at that time for my age and height..

I had several coon try to use me and my pant legs as a climbing assistance to make their escape out that side door. LoL

I wouldn't do that now.

We leased a barn and pastures for awhile in a condo complex, the dumpster was next to the barn...I used to check the dumpster everyday cause the rich kids threw away some great stuff,

One morning found a litter of young coons that followed mom in but couldn't get out, they were asleep in a ball so tight you couldn't tell where one started or ended, lol

A few minutes with the snare pole and they stayed in the dumpster for the ride to the dump.... cool

Bob, that's the definition of dumpster diving.

That took nerve!

Yes Scott it was much more nerve going on that day and the thought of the challenge. Probably wasn't much good sense being used that day.

I had quite the audience but that is another story.

Sort of a smaller version of David and the Goliath bunch of coon. Those observing employees and patrons thought I was some kind of Crocodile Dundee. smile Or something. LOL

I thought I remembered sharing that incident some time ago, but wasn't sure if I remembered correctly or not. smile Too many escapades in my life to remember them all. Thank you for sharing that with me, now I don't need to doubt my memory so much. That sure was an exciting and memorable day.

As a side note, another memory I had from that day while I was dumpster diving with those coon. I do recall there were several large cellophane bags of burger buns in that dumpster that were discarded for some reason. Hundreds of them as I recall. That was back before shrink flation took over the country.

Those buns were a good 5" in diameter not the little mini buns of todays fast food places. You had a decent meal with just the bread alone back in those days. I took several bags of those buns with me after my work was completed. I did ask for permission of course.

I used those buns for eye appeal and bait holders in other cage trapping set ups. They lasted me many months and just added some bait/lure to the buns when doing a fresh set up.

I put those buns in our shop freezer and just got them out as needed.

Some years ago, a farmer with a large poultry barn called me and asked if i wanted 4 coon they had shot? It was the middle of winter and the coon had crawled into one of the heating ducts. They couldn't figure out why no heat was coming out of that section of ductwork. They shined a light into the duct and saw the coon. They took that section of ductwork apart and killed the coon.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.
