I have been pondering lots of stuff while I recover from my broken ankle. I was wondering if anyone has tried soldering a trap tag to the bars on a 330. Just curl it lengthwise, clean the bar down to bare metal and solder it on. The little bit of heat soldering shouldn't hurt anything since it wouldn't be on the springs. And even on the spring I don't think it would hurt if you protected the coil portion from the heat.
The reason I ask is I plan to do some beaver trapping on public areas the last couple weeks of the season, ankle permitting, and thought having a tag soldered on would at least make it a bit harder for a thief to remove. The other option I thought of was to grind a small flat spot on one of the bars and stamp it with my trapper ID number. That's what I do on the base plates of my coyote and wolf traps. And beaver foot traps. Your thoughts are appreciated.

I'm not worried about getting in trouble for someone using my traps somewhere else. I'll report any missing traps immediately and I have a good rapport with the game officers.
A grinder leaves evidence.

A grinder leaves evidence. Not evidence you or LEO can do anything about. Might be able to make a good scene out of it if you come across the traps. Wouldn't be able to prove they're your's

I think the soldering the tags on is a good idea.
Take some pics amd post on here when you get a few completed. I will. Gotta get this hoof healed up enough to get back in the shop.

The second day of the season I report some of my traps have been stolen. It's called covering your butt.

If I was selling them a few seconds with a torch and they’re off.
Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing how they look on the trap.
