I climb trees if the monetary motivation is high enough. But never a power pole yet. I did get asked to cut down some old ones by a power coop once

Been there done it for 40 years. That looks like Shakey Jake on that pole.

That is some great work you did there, and thanks.

Not a lineman but my son is attending OSUIT lineman program. He really enjoys climbing and he should start his first internship at the end of the month [Linked Image]

Dad used to be a lineman. If he was still alive I would be sending an offer.

Phone guy for 34 years, climbed a lot of power poles and some little phone poles. Little was harder! grin Great job on the birdhouse.

Those lineman schools are good, but I’m not so sure on the training they get up to J status. When going to the rodeos down south, the J men get ticked off when our apprentice is drinking with us other J men. When they find out that ours start 12kv hot work within a year they get more ticked off. Sounds like they’re ground men until J status then jump into the thick of it, very dangers approach. Now at Manitoba Hydro a trainee is doing 25kv hot work after 1 year. Climbing…..lots of climbing. A lot of our infrastructure is no access and we only got a few of them fancy flex track buckets spread out across the province. When North Dakota cam to help in 2019, we couldn’t believe the equipment they had! Unreal, heck of a convoy!
One thing for sure, in the USA linemen are treated like the gods we are…….lol. Not so much up here.
Cool bird house!!

I've used a bunch on the farm and still have a few left in the pile. Handy sticks of wood.
