I am only married to my wife. All other relationships, associates, business relations and blood relations are all just friends.
Early on in our marriage we had some problems mainly due to our age difference. Me being older I had some experience particularly in money handling. She was young and naive and I dominated her in most things of the business nature to the point she felt like her opinion was worth nothing and I suppose she felt like she was a work hand and not a partner.
We started drifting apart and sought counseling. Her biggest complaint was that I had to always be right. And usually I thought I was. The therapist boiled it down for me this way, Do You Want Your Wife or do you want to be right? Immediately I knew what I wanted and decided to make the effort to keep her. I started letting her have some breathing room and to make decisions without over powering her with my expertise and let her get her own experience in decision making and making her own mistakes. As she started making some good decisions of her own she started feeling like she was giving something to the marriage.
My in laws was of a political nature and even after a few years we got so we could have Thanksgiving dinner and be just truly thankful as a family and give the ideals and idols a rest.

She’ll regret this decision at some point in life.
