Trapper7 OP trapper T Joined: Dec 2006 MN, Land of 10,000 Lakes	What are your favorite nuts to eat? BTW, everything I've read says most nuts are good for your heart. My favorites listed best to last are: 1. Pecans 2. Cashews 3. Hazelnuts 4. Almonds 5. Walnuts 6. Peanuts I don't like Pistachios and really hate Macadamias. When us older people say, "Enjoy them while they're young." We are talking about our hips and knees, not our kids.

But they are used in one my family's Christmas cookie recipes, so I shell some every year.

beaverpeeler trapper Joined: Dec 2006 Oregon	Virtually 100% of the US hazelnut crop grows within 100 miles of my farm. In recent years huge amounts of blight resistant cultivars are being planted. Many by money from huge packers like Blue Diamond. Interesting factoid: Hazelnuts bloom in January here and are wind pollinated. My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
