Has anyone had any experience with this or know anyone that has had home kidney dialysis? I have a friend that may possibly need to do this. Thanks in advance for any information.

Had a cousin that recently passed that was on home dialysis... He was waiting for a kidney... but he was on dialysis for years so I think they have that process nailed down

I'm on dialysis. I do it at home while I sleep at night. It's called peritineel dialysis. basically it works using the lining of your gut as a filter, just like sugar draws moisture from a strawberry. I hook up to a machine that fills my abdomen with a solution, then after a bit (hour and a half for me ) it drains out and repeats the process, in my case five times. It removes the toxins in the blood.There's also hemo dialysis I did that in center, some folks do it at home, and that's hooked up to the veins direct and blood is filtered through a machine. I got a crash course in all this in '17' when I was air lifted to the hospital, three days later I woke up, before that never really heard of it, and have been hooked up to this since, totally different that's for sure

Forgot to add the way I hook up to the machine is the surgeon implants a catheter in your abdomen that runs inside the body cavity, it hangs out a foot or so and has a connection for the machine. Most of the time it's fine, once in awhile it causes problems. Thing with kidneys is how much more they do for a person, your adrenial glands are on them so when the kidneys ain't right your energy levels are effected as well as the balance of various things like protein, phosphrous in addition to removing toxins.
