Sir, for skunks you need to attend Skunk U which is held in central Kansas. Message me directly and I can assist in enrollment.

Quite a progression from one photo to the other......but Jake (like ALL successful trappers) knows you don't just go to Coyote U or ANY school and just add water, and POOF you get a barn full of fur for a hero shot!

You have to put in the time and work and sacrifice for ANY decent catch of fur for ANY species..........

I've said it a million times: take as much instruction from as many guys as you can afford!

Thanks for the kind words guys and HAT'S OFF to a season that while impressive, I am certain you will exceed and need a bigger barn in the future! smile

PSB, who did you ride with to learn how to catch canines?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

We have the same issue with the coyotes eliminating the red fox here in Wisconsin. I'd certainly rather skin a $10 red fox than a $10 coyote.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

The PA trappers will keep the coyote population thinned down and red fox population will still thrive in Southeastern PA, at least it has been doing that since coyotes first moved into the state years ago.

That is correct. I know the coyotes are in my area. I've been seeing them, seeing their tracks, hearing them and occasionally catching them for at least ten years. I've also had them kill reds that were already caught.

The only decline in reds I've noticed is on two properties that used to have large flocks of free-ranging poultry. The poultry is no longer there and the fox catches dropped by 50% or more. My other properties are still averaging the same as ever.

Eh...wot?

I have heard a far share of trappers say that there catching more reds this year than they have in years. Not sure why but I will take it. I know my red fox catch was double this year.

I have never rode with anybody on their line that I can remember mostly cause I had my own extensive line to run
I take that back , I did ride with Bobby Smith down in MD couple years ago on his beaver line
