I think the savings would have to be in the 750 billion range to give every taxpayer a $5,000 refund. The savings would have to be about 15 to 20 percent of the Federal budget.

Dream big!

It’s a horrible idea. We’ll be giving money to people that never paid in and raise inflation. They scream we’re going bankrupt so that should be used to pay down the deficit.

Would tax cuts balanced to fund this new efficient government be inflationary? However, I would like to see a chunk of that savings applied to payment of debt.

Assuming there is any savings, pay down the debt. ×100

If however this refund happens (which it won't), it needs to be proportional to the taxes actually paid by a taxpayer. Paid more=get more.

Use a percentage on the deficit in a continuing manner and the rest into SS, sooner later people will use the SS and have funds still available, instead of creating a whole new SS program.

Giving a present out just looks like buying votes again to me, people got to learn that not everything do, we all get a prize for doing something right !

I promise to pay off my debt. Is that good enough?

Actually I was referring to the national debt. But if you was to get it you would be doing well to pay off your debt. By the time one gets their tariff taxes paid and their property taxes paid one will be doing well to stay out of Hooverville.

I read that it will only go to people that are currently employed. They want to get everyone back in the workforce. Retired folks won't get anything.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Balance the budget, then pay down debt.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I am going back to work soon as the weather allows. Should I send it back if they do it?

Just throw the check away and save yourself the 40 cents on the stamp.

The heck with it, they've stole enough of our money, give it back and then do away with federal tax, quit spending money on all these BS countries and all these illegal criminals.

This seems like a dumb question but if it is used to pay off our debt where does the money actually go to do that. Treasury Department?

I'm retired and still pay taxes every year, which is more than half the country can say.

He just won the election by an overwhelming majority. I don't think he needs to buy any votes.

Instead of giving the kids candy money lets do the adult thing and pay the bills.
