Use a percentage on the deficit in a continuing manner and the rest into SS, sooner later people will use the SS and have funds still available, instead of creating a whole new SS program.
Giving a present out just looks like buying votes again to me, people got to learn that not everything do, we all get a prize for doing something right ! He just won the election by an overwhelming majority. I don't think he needs to buy any votes. I don't want the money back. I want it used it to keep my kids from having to pay for our mistakes. Ol dad Not really accurate to say Trump won the election by an overwhelming majority. A majority would imply receiving over 50% of the vote. In fact, more people cast a vote for someone other than Trump in 2024 than actually voted for him. Trump…49.97% Harris….48.26% Third Party candidates …2.13%

Remember Bush 2 gave out couple hundred dollar checks when The US supposedly had a surplus.

I think a majority of people here anyways would like to see it pay down the debt, but I can see why the is a proposed payback proposal, it’s not for us that are rooting for Trump and Musk to go further and chop and root out more it to help swing those on the fence or opposing what being done and there are a lot of them
I am sure Trump/Musk understand just what the drawbacks are but I think the positive of swinging options to a positive point is worth it

I am going back to work soon as the weather allows. Should I send it back if they do it? I plan to spend part of mine on hookers and blow and then just waste whatever is left over. Why waste the rest left over on whatever? It would be wise to invest in better quality hookers and blow.

The U.S. has a 1.7 trillion deficit. Math seems to be something not learned in public schools. I said not learned, not not taught. They won't save enough to pay a 1/ 4th of the yearly deficit, much less the debt.

The U.S. has a 1.7 trillion deficit. Math seems to be something not learned in public schools. I said not learned, not not taught. They won't save enough to pay a 1/ 4th of the yearly deficit, much less the debt. The proposal calls for 20% of DOGE’s targeted $2 trillion in savings to be returned to “the ~79 million tax-paying households,” which Fishback said would result in about a $5,000 return per household. Musk thinks they can save 2 trillion by the time DOGE is scheduled to expire in July 2026. FY 2024 we ran a deficit of 1.85 trillion approximately. Projected 2025 is 1.9 trillion, this projection was before President Trump was reelected. If he makes enough cuts it's possible we could actually break even and even pay down some debt. I don't think they will ever pay down the debt meaningfully. As I mentioned it's a horrible idea. I mean come on guys they are talking about spending money they think they may save not will save.

I agree they will not even save even a half a trillion a year. The entire deficit pays for the discretionary budget .

I first thought, A trillion? Never happen!
Now I wouldn't bet against it. Saving tax payers a trillion would include all the cuts Trump has and is doing.
Just yesterday he stopped all fed money to illegals that amounted to 66.3 billion last year.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Keep in mind that these cuts are annual, multiply times 4, or 8, or 12 even....
We did not get in this mess overnight, the same can be said for getting out of it. I got called out to a job once and the superintendant nearly screamed "we are 3 weeks behind schedule"....I told him give me a minute to work on things, I just got here.

That plan reminds me of women that go to walmart and buy something thats on sale. Tell everyone how much money they saved even though they never would have bought that thing in their lifetime.

Are tax cuts inflationary? When they are funded by more borrowing the answer is yes.
