Figure out your time and materials. Tanning, shipping, etc all play a part. And quality of the hide.

Check out Riverine Traders for some top notch work.

Was that just for the stretched and dried pelt? Or for the tanned and hooped finished piece?

I catch tons of coons but get only a small sum for a hide. Should i hoop a coon and sell it for a wallhanger?

Hide is worth $20, fleshing + tanning is $80 so you're $100 into it. Sinew (the fake stuff on a roll) + finding and peeling a Willow branch $20.

So figure you're at least $100 into the end product. Ide say $200 is very fair for quality work.

I've never saw Riverine traders site before but hot dang do I love that Wolverine on the willow, beautiful work.

Muskrat (TMan handle) does great work. You should try to see it in person some time.

Like this when I sold it. It was sold at an OTC sale in Klamath Falls. My minimum bid wasn't met and after the sale I sold it to George Kortum for $100....a little less than my minimum. Vine maple hoop and leather cordage.

That turned out nice. $100 was a steal.

I use a diamond shaped blade in a leather awl. It pierces a nice hole.

Don't use a hole punch.
