Looking to install a driveway detector. Anyone using one and your recommendation for brand? Need something simple that goes ding ding or some other noise inside the house. Theft isn't a problem. About 100-125 foot distance is needed. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the info. Need one incase my dogs are outside. They are trained not to go down the driveway, it's 230 yards long. Usps and ups deliver packages all the time. So, it gives me time to get them in so no conflict. Plus just knowing if anyone wants to be nosey. I can greet and meet them. LOL

I also have the cheap harbor freight driveway alarm by my doors. I mostly wanted so I wouldn't know when delivery people came to door. Like gcs stated it is pretty sensitive dinged for every sparrow or leaf that flew by. I moved the sensor couple different times. Even put a pop can over them with a slot cut in it. That narrowed the sensor windows to lesson the dinging. Still was annoying and made dogs bark. So I now have it set just so the light flashes don't ping. That has seemed to work for us and our needs.

Know a guy that used one to check out the deer in his backyard, so I guess it works for them, said it saved him from constantly looking out the window.... he might have taken some huge bucks,... That right there is a great idea. I have deer come into the back yard. Usually kill one or two a year off the back porch. With a sensor. I can just wait until it dings then go out and shoot it without getting cold waiting. Yes, it is being lazy. I don't care as long as there is meat in the freezer. Lol Sarge

We have a now discontinued Chamberlin, which ran on infrared sensors, so picked up people and animals, including dogs, barn cats, deer, varmints and even the chickens. Vehicles give off enough heat from engines it picks up those too. For some reason, it started malfunctioning and kept going off all the time, nothing there.
We had same at farm, but due to dogs etc, it would also go off all the time. Was replaced by a unit that somehow picks up an induction pulse off vehicles. Has to be within 10 feet or so of the vehicle to sense it. But does work. Does not pick up people or animals.
Of the two, for our purposes, I liked the infrared version that also picks up animals.
