Dan, all that has to happen is someone tell the softies that these darn coyotes seek out and kill wolf puppies.
Doesn’t matter if it’s partially a lie, softies live in lies.
Issue solved.

It’s legal, it’s coyotes, so be it.
I was along on one of those hunts 30 some years ago in Nebraska I believe, much more open country.

Those guys keep great dog yards, everything about keeping those dogs looked top shelf. Impressive.

Not that many years ago I was with a group that tracked coyotes into swamp pockets, surrounded them and either sent a dog in or just started shooting up the reeds until the coyote took out. Then the crazy shooting really began. One and done for me with a cold barrel.
Another in Minnesota not too many years ago the group ran hounds and tried to get ahead of the driven coyote, for a shot. Interesting day, coyotes held their own.

Lotta ways to do it, some aren’t my style but if it’s legal, have at it.

I ran a pretty decent pack for close to 20 years. Competed in the Missouri Open and ran in Kansas/Iowa/Illinois. Only used scent/trailing dogs.

Here is a pic of my last pack before I quit. All of my kids are grown and married now.

Not looking to irritate, curious?
It is that different than male chicken fghting or Dog fighting? In recent years high profile crimes.

Last edited by Bear Tracker; 02/20/25 08:56 PM. Reason: Inappropriate word for male chicken.

Not sure where you are going with this, but trying to connect the two you mentioned to fair chase and legal hunting is a stretch.

Have you ever ran dogs on game of any sort? Even bird dogs? Not trying to ruffle anyone’s feathers.

I really think threads like this do the community a disservice and should not be started or continued.

I would like to see it removed.

Why we don't discuss dispatch on here. Kinda like that. Should be removed.

I'm all for hunting behind hounds. Scent trailing. Listening to the chase and who sorts out the tract and who moves the track along and performance at the tree. I enjoy a good chase. And I love hunting behind a good bird dog and watching great retrieves. This is just over the top for my taste and is shooting the dog hunting sports in the foot.

Not a fan. Almost impossible to do around here without trespassing. I’ve fixed to many fences that have been run through. Give me a call and respect my fences and you are good to go.

I've used a chocolate lab and 2 German wirehair pointers for decoy dogs when I called coyotes. It's a blast to watch how the dogs will work a coyote to bring them in.

if your talking to crappie killer he had scent hounds and that is simply the dogs follow a coyotes trail and wont kill it, not unethical imo

PETA is stupid.
