Never was a fan of them. Just because I really like wood on my guns. I don't have any guns with composite material stocks. But that's me. I do like the M77 though. Have a .308 and 7mm. Both nice shooting guns.

I like wood too. Bought mine for those wild places. Pretty much bomb proof. Hits what I aim at.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Mine was given to me by my grandpa, he won it in an auction and never used it. Honestly, I am not a fan of the looks. Even with a wood stock, I'd prefer blued steel. But as Danny says, it hits right where I aim it.

Me either. To me, the ultimate in a rifle is Walnut and Stainless. I just like that combo.

I have nothing clever to put here.

When Ruger first started making the M77 model Ruger was a new kid on the block Winchester Model 70 and the Remington Model 700 ruled the day when it came to bolt action rifles Today that is no longer the case . Now Ruger has expanded i's selection of what is available in the M77 type of rifle And while they all have their features that some like or dislike The M77 has established itself as a reliable gun that will do the task at hand My brother had a M77 Ultra light in a 308 It would be rather loud when shoot off a bench And unless you had some heft on your frame shooting it multiple times from a bench got old fasr However when it was in the woods and time to get a quick shot or else the deer was gone it preformed like a deer slayer He called his KILLER and it lived up to that many times over It was light to carry and small when in a tree stand And he could shot it like it was an extension of himself He did not kill every deer he shot at but when his gun went off I expected to see a deer laying nearby He passed away and I became the new owner I loaned it to a new young hunter with no hunting experience Hec spent some time shooting at the range and he did well And I drilled him constantly on gun safety and handling a gun Things such as keeping the gun pointed in a safe direction I would rate his gun handling experience as very limit On the first hunt of the rifle buck season he dropped a very nice 5 pt buck a about 80 yards The deer dropped and before I could tell him there was no need to shot again he had chambered another round and hit it a second time Pretty good results for a 12 year old on his first deer hunt The next season he killed a buck at a little further away It was nearing quitting time and the light was getting dim But he hit it the first time and again on a not necessary second shot Because I had told his Dad that I was only helping them He had a twin brother to get started and would be having a couple of other young hunters get a start so they where only in it with me to get that start The next year I decided to use the gun I shot it a few times years ago but I had never hunted with it several days but did not have a chance at a deer About 8 AM a 8 deer showed up 5 where buck and they where chasing a doe in heat After some weaving around one was approaching a safe spot for me to have an open shot And when it entered hat area it entered it's final resting spot What i learned in a week of hunting with it was it was a light easy to carry gun that was quick to my shoulder and it just fit me well My thought is the best way to be successful is find a gun that you can shoot well and than start putting it to use

I never liked those ones much, but I love the old M77's with the orange butt, I have a couple. I like the m77 haweye's too, they're a really nice rifle. I also have an m77/44 that I'm pretty fond of
