The game warden called my friend back, they figured her age wrong at first, she wasn't 13, he said she was 14 years old! Probably on her last leg!

She had no molars, only one small tooth left between the canines, my friend thinks she killed deer and maybe only ate the organs, her teeth were pretty bad

Yes she was collared in SD
My guess the collar could be thirteen years old, he said a collar like that probably had an antenna on it

Ya, wonder how many times she was chased by dogs or treed?
Theres a huge male in that area, his friend is hoping to see it's tracks again to try and tree it

I'm still going to mount the skull from my biggest coyote, he had a broken and worn canine tooth

14 years is a long time for a solitary wild predator to live. All it takes is one moderately severe injury when killing prey and a predator will starve to death, because it won't be able to kill.

Does your buddy get to keep the collar? I don't think it would be of any value to the DNR.

Keith

She was lucky probably, I saw a clip on FB a cougar tried to get a deer, it was fast and could have gotten hurt, good thing cats are tough
I remember he said she did have a big knot on her foot, maybe arthritis from an injury

It sure would be. I hang cool stuff like that in my shop and fur shed, great conversation piece there. I'd frame a picture of it on the lion to hang by it.
