Just bought a 08 F150. I've had it a month. Now occasionally when I slow to turn a corner the oil pressure gauge drops to 0. Dipstick says oil OK.
Thoughts please.

Might just be a faulty gauge or oil sensor.

The "gauge" on your instrument cluster isn't really a gauge. It's controlled by an oil pressure switch (sensor) that is either on or off, it doesn't really read pressure. It takes about 5 psi to close the switch to make the "gauge" needle show good oil pressure. You can remove the oil pressure switch (located behind the filter, tucked up under the lower radiator hose, if you have the 5.4-a real pain in the butt) and hook up a manual gauge and go for a drive and see what's actually happening. But it's probably just a bad oil pressure switch. If it were me, I'd just install a new switch and see what happens.

2004-2010

I had about 270K on 2004 when it was involved in a teen driving event in 2020

the plugs and manifolds were an issue , but if you got those replaced then you could run them a long time.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Sold my last one with 370K on it, the guy is still driving it. 250K on my current truck with the 5.4 and all I ever did to either was replace the occasional burnt out coil aside from regular oil changes. I had worse luck with 4.6.

Bob, I'd guess its a bad sensor too.

Dunno how thick the oil is. It looks like fresh oil.
Had an issue with a coil. replaced both coil and plug. Mechanic said plugs need replaced but I said we will wait.
Dunno what engine it has. Guy I bought it fro said it was the good engine.
What I'm wondering about is it only at low rpm that it happens. Rev the engine it goes away and gauge stays normal when lower revs.
Lots of ?????

If you're not getting a check engine light, just ignore it, maybe it'll fix itself. smile

I seen a lot of bad oil pumps in Ford.
Had a friend that was going to trade his Ford in but I told him it just needs the bottom end fixed.
He said ok ...that was 20 years ago and he still drive that truck..

I’d start with the gauge deal first as loosegoose said,a friend had those 5.4 and spit spark plugs like savell drinks lone star, he burned one up by using too thick of oil, on those engines it’s really important to not use any heavier weight oil than recommended.
