Pulling cell cams on my western Ky lease and found this one laying in river bed. Looks like a big one. Don’t know only second one I’ve seen. [Linked Image]

A prehistoic creature that hasn't evolved too much over the years.

There was an armadillo here at the city pond in Pawnee City Nebraska two weeks ago. I'm sure the -15 did him in. Not much fur or fat there.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

It might have but those things dig as good as a badger so he might have burrowed under somewhere. They are dumb you can blind set em with a cage trap along side a woven wire fence.

The first one I ever saw here in Missouri was in 1979. Was rabbit hunting along a railroad track neat Aurora, Missouri and saw one dead along the tracks. I figured it had hitched a ride in some freight cars and didn't think anything more about it. Then they started showing up regular. Now they're every where. I've got one digging holes for grubs in the yard. Year around. The cold doesn't stop them. Apparently they don't hibernate, at least the ones here don't. Just got out of some cold days with -5 degree nights and it didn't slow them down any.
I've read there is a slow migration of them from Central America. At the time of the Alamo (1836) they were just coming in to that part of the country.

Took one a few years ago and made a helmet cover out of it for my ballistic helmet. Everyone at work got quite the kick out of it. [Linked Image]
