They wont quit because they are afraid of losing pensions. Afraid to take a job where they have to produce something. My guess is the convicts are all on lockdown. No way national guard can step in and herd prisoners not locked in their cells. Its not going to end well. They cant get enough people to become CO's now. Firing wont solve anything. Recently read a report that said 30% of guards were corrupt. Not necessarily involved in the drug trade, but look the other way for anything short of murder or escape.

Don't work,..don't pay,..it has applied in the private sector for many years,...why is this different ? It’s different because it is illegal to mandate 16 hour plus shifts in the private sector.

You guys have no clue how bad the NYS Corrections Dept is run by Albany politicians, they do not have Correction Officers back. But one party rule in Albany do have the convicted criminals back.
I stand corrected, it is legal for employers to ask employees to work more than 16 hour shifts in NY.

I saw yesterday that they have another beat down gang that put a prisoner in the hospital, 12 CO beat a man in a locker room. It was caught on camera. They didn’t beat him to death like they did a couple months ago to a handcuffed prisoner, hands behind his back, his name was Robert Brooks . It was at the Marcy Correctional Center in NY. There was 18 people involved and was captured on there body cameras, they thought they had turned them off. I believe 6 of them were just charged with second degree murder .
The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

COS are getting 2 1/2 times rate of pay for every hour worked during this illegal strike. It is against the law for them to strike and against their union by- laws to strike. They just within a year negotiate a new contract and held out for everything they wanted. I understand not wanting stipulations that are in the HALT act but your union is supposed to have ways to work this out. If short staffing and long hours are your biggest beef. Look what you're doing to your fellow workers. Every one I know that is a CO has worked double shifts or better since day one when they started. This is done because lots of them start their careers a long way from home. This way they can work 4 twelves and go home for three days and get lots of overtime accumulated.
These state employees are very well paid for what they do and knows what their job is. Their new contract gave them a sizable raise in money and benefits but I heard them asking for more now. I have 6 close friends I can name that work in this field. Two are striking and the other four are not. The four that are not do agree with what I have just said.

Was going to say I'm not in NY but am finishing up my 4th or 5th 16 in a roll now.
