A good glass cleaner. but more important, is how it's wiped clean. I use pro best squeegee blades with careful wipe off after every swipe. Perfect every time. Make sure the blades are curved just enough to pressure the windshield all across. They will work on house windows too. It's all in the pressure applied.

I cannot stand dirty windows on house or truck on anything. Same for mirrors.

Simple mixture of white vinegar and water and a good squeegee. For vehicle's and house windows. Invisible glass works well on vehicles. Sprayway works okay on small areas I have found. It seems to streak too much for me. I use old worn cotton tee-shirts to wipe up the excess.

I agree with using a squeege pull stuff to the edge instead of smearing it around. As for glass cleaner. My brother is pretty fussy. Actually worked for a company that made glass cleaner.
He had access to gallons of free window cleaner don't use it.
But you will find a can of Invisible Glass in his truck if you search it. Tells me what I need to know.

Forgot I have changed to water and a few drops of Dawn dish soap in a bucket of water to clean the house windows. It really gets the grime off of winter windows. Have a good scrub/soft brush and a squeegee and they are good to go.

I buy the gallon jug of Windex and refill bottles , it is a compromise on not needing to make something up

I have to be honest other than the car windows I hate cleaning windows so bad that I mostly don't

growing up twice a year we had to clean every window in the house inside and out, not my favorite Saturdays of the year.

this involved buckets , old cloth diapers , and a squeegee as well as news paper

dad would mix up this solution he learned working at a butcher shop to get the glass really clean and clear so that everyone could see the meat in the glass cases
I know it involved ammonia and laundry bluing and hot water , I know it was just a tiny little bit of bluing to a 2 gallon pail

I found a reference to using laundry bluing from an 1980 Wisconsin church cook book recipe for glass cleaner you bottle

2 cups / 1 pint rubbing alcohal
2 TBL spoons amonia
6 drops laundry bluing
1TBL spoon Dish soap
add water to make a gallon

mix in a gallon jug and put in empty spray bottles



his was similar but we did it in buckets and I don't recall rubbing alcohol , just hot water ,ammonia , dish soap and bluing.
old diaper get it wet , wring it out , scrub window and frame , squeegee off the window , wipe the sill with news paper


now that I am thinking about the fun of window cleaning the other chore I hated was raking the gravel out of the yard , I hated this but it paid , I would do it for a lady at church and the farm I worked at , the plow would push up piles of gravel and they would get it 20 feet into the yard often , I hate raking gravel to this day but not much else paid when you were 9-11
