Was looking at a used car a dealer had on facebook market place 3-4 months ago. Price was 6900. Was supposed to be in Olathe. They called that morning to remind us we had an appointment. we got there and were told the car was in Lawrence but they would buy our lunch while we waited on them to bring it to Olathe. I was not happy. Told them I didnt want lunch and it was pretty sloppy customer service. said we would drive to Lawrence. Added maybe 15 miles to our trip back home. got to Lawrence and the car was not there either. Salesman said they would have it there shortly. Asked what my credit score was. Told him I was going to write a check. We never did see that car. salesman went and got somebody else. He said their out the door price was 8700 plus tax. Dealer charges were extra. We left. Never saw the car. Found one a week or so later the wife liked. I called that dealer and made sure of the asking price. We got them to knock a little off. was fair to both. Had to get the car vin/title inspected by the highway patrol as we bought it in MO. Pretty painless.

Salesman can be real jerks. I have walked out of several dealerships when it seemed like I was getting skinned.

They make A LOT of money from the lender. Easy way is finance, (usually you can't pay off for around three months) then pay off when able. Three month's interest can save you thousands.

They tried 4 month minimum for the entire balance then after I told them to pound sand it was less for 20 days that equals no interest.

Now that Toyota has lost favor with the changes and price hikes they made recently I think the Frontier will be the new Tacoma unless all their dealers act like the one I dealt with the last few days. LOL
I'm not so sure the Tacoma has fallen out of favor, I seem to see a new one everywhere I look!
Now that Toyota only offers the 4 Cyl turbo and higher prices with less options being offered it’s getting a lot of negative feedback look on YouTube lots of bad reviews while the Frontier offers what the Tacomas lack.

The sales men want you to think what you want is worth gold and what you have is worth s!th. That’s how they operate.

There’s a special spot for salesmen in the grand scheme of things.

Never bought a new vehicle...dont like losing 60% of the value in the first 5 years. However, dealt with more than a couple salesman on used vehicle purchases. Can be aggravating at times for sure.....

There's a sleazy "used auto row" in South Tacoma, they specialize in selling autos to Fort Lewis soldiers. I know of a young guy who negotiated for a used truck. After they came to agreement on price, he pulled out a wad of cash. The dealer backed out of the deal, they insisted he buy it on a loan...22% interest. That's where they planned to make their money. The kid was smart enough to give them a piece of his mind, and walked out.

I once drove to Denver from MN to confront a salesman who lied to me on the phone, ended up with a truck with additional options, a plane ticket and shipping back to MN for the same price as a lower optioned truvk.

A buddy of mine slapped a car dealer right there in the showroom. This was back in the late 70s. Said it took the guy to the floor. He had to go to court over it too. Ol' Don always had a temper lol.

Go to the Nissan page on the web you can build the truck you want and get a close price. Seen a new 2024 during my web search in MN east of Fargo $5000 off sticker price and an upgrade model. That same page has a search of dealer inventory that’s helpful also.

Congrats on the new truck.

Seems like the entire dealership industry (used and new, sales and service) is set up for cheats. Some of the most dishonest people I have ever worked with. And management expected you to be that way.

Local chevy dealership is were my last 5 vehicles have came from. ONLY place I have ever dealt with that doesn't ask "how much you want to pay" Toyota dealer is the worst. They won't even show you how much trade in unless you ask. Then its umm oh wait let me check. THEN run to the sales "throne" were all deals are birthed. Po on them.

Nissan might be about to belly up. Honda tried to buy them but deal got axed.

I purchased a 2021 Tacoma trd off road last year with 18K miles. I knew the new ones will take a bit to get them figured out and I wanted a 6 cylinder. It is great to see our government force vehicle manufacturers to make the vehicles more energy efficient. Just like the insurance industry lobbying for all the so called safety additions that are a pain. The people have no control of their lives anymore it sucks.

my wife is a loan officer at a bank. she now does solely real estate. I just sit there and keep my mouth shut. she knows the ins and outs of their BS games. its funny to watch her hand them their arses and make them look like idiots. I just antagonize in a very timely and calculated manner. She will get up and leave in the blink of an eye when they try their typical crap. Tis a work of beauty to watch them get dismantled.

I stopped to look at a truck a few years ago at a Ford dealership that caught my eye. The salesman never did give me a price- all he could do was ask "how much do you want your payment to be?" or "what kind of credit do you have? We can find a way to get you in this thing" but never once gave me an out the door price. Spoke to the manager and got the same questions, with me telling them I didn't want to finance, I want to know the price on the truck. I walked. It was time that I will never get back.
